Chairman & CEOHal Thorne spent 25 plus years with Pioneer Hi- Bred International, the world's leading plant genetic company. He held several positions including roles as VP for Business Development and VP for Global Sales and Marketing. DuPont purchased Pioneer in 1999, and Thorne was part of management at DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware for both the seed and agrochemical groups for several years thereafter. Following Dupont/Pioneer he consulted with several small, plant related businesses prior. Mr. Thorne and an investor group joined GSky in 2007 (at the time known as Eco Innovations Inc), and has served as Chairman and CEO since that time.
Director of Design and Corporate DevelopmentDebbie Kotalic is one of the more highly-respected landscape designers in the Green industry. She oversees the plant design process for all GSky projects and manages GSky relations with nurseries in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to joining GSky in 2008, Debbie co-owned a landscape design business and founded a successful production and retail nursery. She has been published in a number of national industry publications, been a featured speaker at several landscaping seminars, conducted workshops and made TV appearances on the benefits of plant designing for longevity. She has a degree from the University of West Virginia as well as several design certifications.
Director of OperationsBrent is an experienced contractor and project manager with 45 years of industry experience. Beginning as a carpenter's apprentice in 1975, he has been involved in all facets, from start to finish, of residential and commercial construction throughout the years. His field experience in sales, operations and management has been an asset to our Management Team. In addition to responsibility for our sales quote and contracting efforts, Brent provides leadership to the Operations Team.
Director of MaintenanceDan earned a B.S. degree in Agriculture from Ohio State University. At GSky he is responsible for the service and maintenance of installed walls as well as managing Corporate clients walls. His previous employers include Valley Crest Environmental Industries, One Source Landscape, and Down to Earth Landscape and Irrigation. In each of these roles he was responsible for service contracts and service teams. His experience includes irrigation, horticultural services, annual color, tree care, and landscaping. He is a State of Florida Certified Pest Operator, L&O classification, and he is Florida Green Industries Best Management Practices Certified.
Director of Global Business Development.Jean-Pierre brings 25 years of experience in the interiorscape industry. Jean-Pierre owned and operated City Plantscaping in Denver, Colorado for 16 years. Prior to this, Jean-Pierre served as the Operations Manager for Veldkamp's Interior Landscaping and Acquisition Manager for Plantscape BV, a Dutch Company. He has also held positions as Sales Manager and General Manager. Jean-Pierre is tasked with building relationships with customers, GSky dealers and marketing teams throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
General Manager Canada Operations ManagerTakashi Sawada joined GSky as the first employee in 2005 after graduation from the British Columbia Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Building Science and Building Envelope Design. He built aand established system designs, irrigation systems, and specifications/shop drawings. Through several promotions in the Company first as Project Supervisor, then Project Manager, and finally Operations Manager he expanded GSky’s contracting capacity and helped to initiate our Ceritfied Contractor Program. With his 15 plus years at Gsky, Takashi also manages the Candian Operations and office and directs our Research and Design program.
ControllerAnna joined the GSky team in 2012 as a bookkeeping controller assistant in the accounting department and has since been promoted to Controller. As a part of her role, Anna organizes the company payroll, maintains accounts with vendors and suppliers, handles tax reporting and other accounting duties. While working at GSky , Anna is also a CGA student working to complete her certification.
Supply Chain ManagerAmy is the Supply Chain Manager at GSky. Her responsibilities for Supply Chain functions range from purchasing, logistics, inventory to vendor management. Amy is enthusiastic for the products and is proud to be part of a team that provides Living Greenwalls to Corporations and Homes across North America, Middle East, Australia and Europe. She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of General Studies. She is a certified SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) and has over 20 years of Supply Chain experience across the Living Greenwalls, food & beverages and apparel industries.
Architectural TechnicianKashyap joined Gsky in the spring of 2016 as an Architectural Technician. His role includes producing green wall shop drawings and technical specification drawings that support Gsky’s Installation, plant design, and logistics departments. Kashyap’s past occupational experience include working with high-profile architect firms and modular construction companies, brining over 20 years of drafting experience to the GSky team
Western Region Service ManagerDaniel Lorenson is the Western Region Service Manager with GSky Plant Systems Inc. His love of the outdoors and living systems steered him at an early age to study plants professionally and to pursue a related career. He earned degrees from the University of Washington in Horticulture and Forest Conservation. Daniel believes continuing education is important and has since become a Certified Professional Pruner. With experience in sales, maintenance, production as well as spending the past 13 years as a service manager, Daniel is well positioned to contribute to the success of GSky. With his plant and industry knowledge, he places building and maintaining relationships as one of his highest priorities.
EstimatorAaron has spent the last 2 decades working in the construction industries of both the South Florida & Caribbean markets. Aaron brings with him a strong background in product sales & cost estimating and serves as GSky’s sales representative responsible for the dealer network in the Southeast United States region, in addition to his role in the quote and pre-construction process for all GSky Green Walls sold nation-wide. He holds a degree from the University of Kansas and has the OSHA30 hour Safety Training Certificate.
European Sales ManagerFinn joined GSky as an official employee at the beginning of 2020 after having worked his way through the University of Berlin installing wlls part-time for GSky. Heis the European Sales Manager for GSky with primary responsibilities for the coordination of Greenwall projects in Europe and dealer support. Finn had worked for his family's interiorscape/landscape company and was responsible for all the vertical green projects and helping customers implement interior green. Finn studied "Phytotechnology in Horticulture." Finn is a plant-lover and grew up in a greenhouse.
