National Geographic Channel
The National Geographic Society is one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world. According to their stated Green Vision, the Society aims to be an international leader for global conservation and environmental sustainability. At the National Geographic Channel offices, a Green Wall was installed to greet employees and visitors with lush, vibrant growth in the lobby area and serve as a visual reminder that they are fully committed to this vision.
This Green Wall utilizes the versatility of the GSky Versa Wall System by integrating a 180-degree curve around one side of the unit to allow the plant palette to flow seamlessly from front to back. The irrigation system incorporated into the unit allows for an asymmetrical design and remains hidden without sacrificing our ability to provide nutrients and water to the whole Green Wall.

THE PROCESS
A custom-made cabinetry piece was designed specifically to integrate the Green Wall and National Geographic Logo in a single unit. Installation took place over several days and incorporates supplemental lighting to assist the growth of the plants. The return was framed out the the carpenters to fit the Versa Trays prior to our arrival at the site based on shop drawings developed by GSky's building techs.

MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is performed using a step ladder to reach the highest part of the wall which is around 8'. Irrigation is set on a timer and all water is re-captured into a tank at the base of the wall making the water 100% water efficient.
