The Distrikt Hotel has Four Star Amenities and Service with a refreshing design and feel located close to everything New York has to offer. Otte Architecture put together this brilliant design based on bringing all the different distrikts of New York together under this contemporary hotel design. The Green Wall is meant to represent Central Park. And just as Central Park is the heart of the city, the Green Wall is the centre piece of the lobby.

THE PROCESS
The Green Wall was installed in two separate installations. The first installation had the irrigation, framing and trim put up onto the wall so that other trades could finish early on the site, the second installation had the live plants delivered to the site. The plants were split out of the installation to avoid having them getting covered in construction site dust and potentially hurting them. The installation took two full working days to complete. The lighting in the space was a particular challenge that Otte Architecture met with a fantastic fixture design in front of the wall to ensure 150 foot candles of light across the entire surface of the wall.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is performed using a step ladder. The bi-weekly visits require only a morning each visit to inspect the plants, make any necessary replacements, fill up the fertilizer tank, check the irrigation system and clean out the gutter. Given the great lighting, the wall has continued to grow and flourish as the center piece in this lobby.
