In July of 2006, GSky approached Busby, Perkins + Will with our Green Wall technologies. Busby, Perkins + Will became very excited about GSky technologies and realized their role in the future of Green Building in North America. Shortly thereafter, this wall was commissioned and installed on the front of Busby, Perkins + Will’s head office in downtown Vancouver, Canada.

THE PROCESS
The wall was proposed to Busby, Perkins + Will Architects by GSky in May of 2010. Benn Duffel championed the idea and got the sign-off from firm in June. As planted panels became ready, GSky moved in to install the wall in July of 2006. The plants were chosen for their ability to handle the mild Vancouver climate and the only 2 to 3 hours of direct afternoon sun that the wall receives. Given the walls height of close to 17 feet, a scaffold was used to install the Green Walls. The installation took less than a day.
MAINTENANCE
The Green Walls maintenance is performed using a ladder provided by GSky and stored on the site. As the wall is quite small, bi-weekly maintenance visits for 4 hours each visit, keep the wall looking in tip-top shape.
