GSky A modern-designed Brooklyn private residence adds life and warmth to their home with the installation of GSky Plant Systems Versa Wall™ the most versatile interior Green Wall system in the industry.

Brooklyn, NY Oct. 18, 2012 – GSky Plant Systems Inc™, the leading provider of vertical green walls, completed the installation of a Versa Wall™ this October, in a modern-designed private residence in Brooklyn, NY. The Green Wall is the most prominent feature of the house, extending from the second-story all the way to the third-story of the home. A vast skylight illuminates the Versa Wall™ bringing life and warmth to the entire space.

The owner stated “This Green Wall has transformed and livened up our living space. It leaves you feeling warm and energized.”

The owner worked closely with GSky™’s Green Wall Designer, Debbie Kotalic who designed the cutting edge, yet humble feel of the Green Wall, that was initially inspired by one small house plant. The home owner was given a small house plant by a friend, and since has been incorporating more plants into his home making it somewhat of a hobby. The Green Wall provides a much bigger space where he can continue to elaborate his collection of plants.

The Versa Wall™ is the most versatile interior Green Wall System in the industry. In a standard installation it is 100% water efficient, the only system in the industry that has this capability. It is self-contained, therefore no risk of water spillage in front of the wall or onto the leaves of the plants, it uses standard 4” pots making it easily maintained and flexible for change of seasons or special events and can be installed on virtually any indoor surface.

Our designers are the best in the industry working with the client every step of the way starting with design & planning, then making the plant selection, procuring the plants, all the way through the installation process. We strive to enrich people’s lives and improve the quality of urban environments by integrating plants into spaces we live, work and play.

GSky has completed another Green Wall with famed Lango and Hansen Landscape Architects in Portland.

Portland, OR Aug 23, 2012 – GSky’s newest Green Wall certainly is impressive. The Pro Wall Exterior Green Wall was installed in Portland, Oregon’s Pearl District and completed on August 9th, 2012.

“Lango and Hansen’s design is incredible! It looks like a river and waterfall of plants. We were thrilled to be able to work with Lango Hansen Landscape Architects on another project. The first Green Wall we did with them was Hotel Modera, which has become a landmark in downtown Portland, I expect the The Janey will become a landmark for the Pearl District as well,” Chad Sichello, GSky President said.

The new Green Wall is meant to be a vibrant living space for all those that inhabit The Janey, along with all those who view it from afar. With a lower terrace that overflows with a living fern garden, combined with 2 eco-roofs, it looks as though a living tapestry is growing from the Pearl District Condos.

“The living wall is an integral part of the LEED Platinum Apartments that provide a tangible example of the green technologies that are used throughout the building,” Kurt Lango, Landscape Architect and Designer said. “We were so pleased to collaborate with GSky on another successful green wall project,” Lango adds.

This is not the first project that GSky has completed in correlation with Lango Hansen Landscape Architects and is GSky’s fourth Green Wall installed in Portland.

After a thorough search GSky has found the right talent to add to their team!

Delray Beach, Florida, August 3, 2012. It takes the ebb and flow of a team working in unison in order to be successful – GSky realizes this. So when it came time to hire a new Service Manager, they truly searched high and low for the right candidate to add to their team.

After a thorough search, the perfect talent was found in Dan Ballay. With a B.S. degree in Agriculture from Ohio State University, and previous employers such as Valley Crest Environmental Industries, One Source Landscape, and Down to Earth Landscape and Irrigation ̶ GSky is proud to call him part of their team.

This is a critical position in the GSky Company, but GSky’s President knows that Ballay will excel in this new position.

“He’s simply the right person for the job. Ballay’s experience combined with his enthusiasm for horticulture and passion for creating a Greener world fits perfectly with GSky’s team,” Chad Sichello, GSky President said.
“We are looking forward to integrating him into the business and improving our service to our customers,” Sichello adds.

With background experience that includes management of service contracts and service teams, irrigation, horticulture services, annual color, tree care, and landscaping ̶ Ballay should not have a problem fulfilling his new role. Ballay also retains the titles of: State of Florida Certified Pest Operator, L&O classification, and Florida Green Industries Best Management Practices Certified.

“I am looking forward to being part of the GSky team. GSky is such an innovative company with innovative products ̶ I am thrilled! I am also anticipating working with their client base and satisfying their needs,” Ballay said.

With a week of training in Vancouver completed, Ballay has been placed in charge of several service contracts with the remaining contracts to be transferred to his care as of January 1st, 2013.

Welcome to our team, Dan!

GSKY PLANT SYSTEMS, INC. OPENS U.S. OFFICE IN DELRAY BEACH, FLA.

DELRAY BEACH. Fla., and VANCOUVER, B.C., May 14, 2012 – GSky Plant Systems, Inc., the leading provider of Vertical Living Green Wall systems in North America, has opened a U.S. headquarters in the South Florida city of Delray Beach. Located at 25 Seabreeze Ave. Suite 404 in east Delray Beach between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, the office will support all of GSky’s Vertical Living Green Wall systems.GSky will continue to operate its corporate headquarters out of its office in downtown Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

“A U.S. office has been our goal for quite some time since a majority of our business in North America is in the U.S.,” said GSky Chief Executive Officer Hal Thorne. “The South Florida area is important because we have designed and installed walls on Palm Beach Island and several in the Miami area, so we have a great affinity for this area. Delray Beach is a great city known for its arts community. It is a leader in the ‘green’ industry, and there are many tropical plant growers and nurseries nearby, so it’s a perfect fit for GSky.

“With many of our new and upcoming projects on the East Coast, this office will give GSky the opportunity to better serve our clients and the market in the U.S. Our sales and technical support team will work out of this office.”

In addition, Debbie Kotalic, GSky’s manager of design and plant procurement, will work out of the Delray Beach office.

GSKY ADDS ITS SECOND WEST ELM STORE TO DESIGN PORTFOLIO

VANCOUVER, B.C. , Nov. 22, 2011 – GSky Plant Systems, Inc. has installed a 242 square-foot Versa Wall at the newly-opened West Elm home furnishings store in Los Angeles. Located at 8366 Beverly Blvd. near Beverly Hills, the Versa Wall is the second collaboration between GSky and West Elm, the trendy, green friendly, home furnishings store owned by Williams-Sonoma. The first GSky Vera Wall was installed earlier this year at the West Elm store in Seattle, WA.

The Versa Wall at the West Elm Los Angeles store, designed by GSky Design Manager Deborah Kotalic, features 1,365 plants. The plants are: Philodendron Cordatum, Golden Pothos, Rabbits Foot Fern, Neon Pothos, Calathea and Nephthytis “White Butterfly.”

The Versa Wall is prominently placed on the right side of the West Elm store. It replaced what was known as the store’s feature wall. It can be seen from the entry and leads customers to one of the stairs up to the mezzanine level.

The West Elm brand uses global materials for their merchandise and a number of items are 100 percent green. The Versa Wall ties into the store design with the reclaimed wood floors, wood fixtures, blackened steel, seeded glass, open wood truss ceiling, and skylights.

“GSky is honored to continue working with West Elm and Williams-Sonoma,” said GSky Plant Systems, Inc. President Chad Sichello. “The Versa Wall at the West Elm Los Angeles store is a great example of how a green wall adds to the ambience and eye appeal of a store or office.”

GSKY PRESIDENT CHAD SICHELLO ADDRESSES LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS IN SAN DIEGO

VANCOUVER, B.C. , Nov. 3, 2011 – The green wall market in North America is in a fluid phase moving towards a transitional phase where a dominant green wall technology will emerge and the field of competitors will quit expanding and begin to contract.

That was the message GSky Plant Systems, Inc., President Chad Sichello told an audience at the American Society of Landscape Architects Expo this week in San Diego. On a panel of green wall experts that also included GSky Design Manager Debbie Kotalic, Sichello said the number of green wall technologies is rapidly expanding.

“New competitors are entering and exiting the field, so it is important for landscape architects to choose their green wall solutions based upon: Installation history and success rate; viability of the green wall company; and warranty and maintenance program detail,” Sichello said.

The GSky booth was one of the more popular at the ASLA Expo as landscape architects from around the world learned more about the technologies and designs in GSky’s Pro, Versa and Basic Walls as well as its Smart Wall cabinets.

“The reaction to our walls was overwhelming,” Sichello said. “It’s a tribute to what we at GSky have accomplished and to what the future will be for us and for green walls.”

The purpose of the project is to demonstrate the next generation technologies that Microsoft is working on and then to have people interact with these technologies first hand. The Green Wall lies at the end of the walk-through demonstration of various technologies. There are tables and chairs that are occasionally swamped out with a conference table and chairs, where the participants of the demonstration can then sit and discuss their experience in front of a Green Wall, which Microsoft believes will be a technology that will play a much larger role in our lives in the near future.

GSKY’S VERSA WALL IN NEW WEST ELM HOME FURNISHINGS STORE IN SEATTLE

VANCOUVER, B.C. , Oct. 20, 2011 – GSky’s newest Green Wall is on display at the West Elm home furnishings store on West Lake Ave. in Seattle. The trendy store is part of the Williams-Sonoma portfolio and features many products that are 100 percent green.

GSky’s Versa Wall at West Elm, approximately 12 feet tall and 16 feet wide, reflects the brand’s modern design style and provides customers with a pleasant, soothing shopping experience. GSky designer Debbie Kotalic worked with designers from West Elm to develop the Versa Wall’s plant design layout, which is located directly behind the checkout counters and centered to be visible throughout the store.

The Versa Wall features 1,140 plants, including Philodendron Cordatum, Golden Pothos, Rabbits Foot Fern, Neon Pothos, Zebrina Pendula, N-Joy Pothos, Baby’s Tears Pilea.

“This was a terrific project for GSky and were honored to work with a such a renowned company as Williams-Sonoma,” said GSky Plants Systems, Inc. President Chad Sichello. “It’s really win-win for everybody. Williams-Sonoma and West Elm get a beautiful green wall in the store and GSky gets to show off another one of our Versa Walls.”

Developed in response to the increased demand for Green Walls in offices, GSky’s Versa Wall System is a “customizable, low maintenance, Green Wall system” ideal for those who want versatile plant designs in their indoor office environment.

The Versa Wall design specifically caters to the needs of the interior plant maintenance industry. Its design employs standard practices used by interior plant maintenance companies so that plants can be easily maintained, refreshed and replaced as required with very little effort. For example, the Versa Wall plants can be easily changed out for seasonal updates to the wall, such as putting in Poinsettas for the Winter holiday season, or herbs can be put in the wall and refreshed on a weekly basis for a restaurant.

Furthermore, the watering system has been greatly simplified on the wall. Plants are irrigated by a trickle-down watering system that can be installed using a hidden water tank and pump so that the system does not require changes to interior plumbing lines.

“We have received great interest so far for the Versa Wall because it’s been engineered specifically for the interior environment and offers the same great plant design flexibility as our Pro Wall product, but with much improved maintenance practices for the interior environment,“ Sichello said
